Turtle Lane Playhouse

Twenty years ago, Turtle Lane Players began as a spinoff from a group at the Vokes Theatre in Wayland. These players mounted a production of Godspell so popular that it was first transferred to downtown Boston and then toured suburbia. Rehearsals were held at the home of a cast member who lived on Turtle Lane in Dover. Other shows were hatched and a new theater group was born! The group needed a home of its own, so the old Auburndale Club was purchased in 1979 and renovated (air conditioning was added in 1992). In its 20-year history, Turtle Lane has been home to over 80 Broadway musicals, as well as many special events.

Directions:
From Boston: Take the Mass Pike West to Exit 16 (West Newton). Continue West on Route 16 until you reach the large intersection for Route 30. (The Newton fire station will be on the far left corner.) Turn right onto Rt 30, heading West. Turn left at the third traffic light (Melrose St.). Turtle Lane is the last building on the right, next to the new traffic circle and library.
From Rt. 128 (Rt.95): Take exit 24 (Route 30). Go East on Route 30. At the first light, bear right onto Auburn Street. Continue up the hill and down. Turtle Lane Playhouse will be on your left, opposite the traffic circle.
