Fabrique, Foy, Hicks, Landau, et al. Receive 2008 Suzi Bass Award Nominations

Nominations for the Suzi Bass Awards, honoring the best of Atlanta's professional theater, have been announced. Winners in a total of 20 categories will be revealed at a ceremony on November 10 at the Fox Theatre.

The Alliance Theatre led all producing organizations with 35 nominations, including seven for the world premiere musical The Women of Brewster Place, with nominations for actors Tina Fabrique, Harriet D. Foy, and Marva Hicks; eight for the musical revival Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, including actors Courtenay Collins and Craig A. Meyer; eight for Eurydice, co-produced with GA Shakespeare; and six for In the Red and Brown Water, including awards for director Tina Landau and actor Daniel Thomas May.

A number of individuals are competing against themselves in the same category, including Natasha Dreana for lead actress in a musical for Aurora's Annie Get Your Gun and Actor's Express' The Last Five Years; Geoff Uterhardt, for featured actor in a musical for Annie Get Your Gun and Atlanta Lyric's Little Shop of Horrors; Richard Garner for his direction of Eurydice and GA Shakespeare's Richard III; Donna Biscoe as featured actress in a play for Alliance's Doubt and Theatrical Outfit's Gee's Bend; Tess Malis Kincaid for featured actress in a play for Richard III and Horizon's The Missionary Position; Ann-Carol Pence for music direction of Annie Get Your Gun and Theatrical Outfit's Godspell; Kat Conley for scenic design of Eurydice and Richard III; Leslie Taylor for scenic design of Jacques Brel and GA Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice; and Chris Bartelski for sound design of Horizon's In Darfur and Theatrical Outfit's It's a Wonderful Life.
