Intiman Theatre has announced the productions that will comprise its 2009 season, under the leadership of artistic director Bartlett Sher. Performance dates, casting, and creative team information will be announced at a later date.
The season will include Crime and Punishment, adapted by Marilyn Campbell and Curt Columbus from the novel by Dostoyevsky, and directed by Sheila Daniels; Herb Gardner 's Tony-winning comedy A Thousand Clowns, about the relationship between a free-living, middle-aged iconoclast and his nephew, a 12-year-old genius; and The Year of Magical Thinking, a play by Joan Didion based on her award-winning, bestselling memoir about the year following the sudden loss of her husband, John Gregory Dunne, and some 18 months later, of their only child.
In addition, Sher will direct a Shakespeare play or a musical, and the season will conclude with the launch of Intiman's second American Cycle, a new five-year series of classic American stories and free public programs.
