Butler, Foote, Gasteyer, Ivey, Smith, Sun, Voytko, et al. Recieve Jeff Award Nominations

Nominations for the 40th annual Joseph Jefferson Awards, honoring the best in Chicago-area Equity theater, have been announced. The ceremony will take place at 6pm on Monday, October 20 at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie.

Nominees were announced in 35 categories, and among the many shows up for numerous awards are Lookingglass Theatre's adaptation of Around the World in 80 Days, the Goodman Theatre's productions of Sarah Ruhl's Passion Play and Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful, the Steppenwolf Theatre's world premiere of Tracy Lett's Superior Donuts, the Marriott Theatre's revival of Les Miserables, and the Porchlight Theatre's revival of Nine.

Actresses E. Faye Butler and Kathy Voytko are both double nominees. Butler is competing against herself as Best Actress in a Revue for her work in the Goodman's Ain't Misbehavin' and Northlight Theatre's Ella, while Voytko is in separate categories for her work in Chicago Shakespeare's production of Passion and for Les Miserables.

Other notable acting nominees in the dramatic categories include Shannon Cochran (The Lion in Winter), Mary Beth Fisher (The Little Dog Laughed), Hallie Foote (The Trip to Bountiful), Jon Michael Hill (Superior Donuts), Judith Ivey (The Lady With All the Answers), John Judd (Shining City), Lois Smith (The Trip to Bountiful), and Nilaja Sun (No Child). In the musical categories, acting nominees include Richard Todd Adams (Les Miserables), John Cudia (Les Miserables), Ana Gasteyer (Passion), and Alene Robertson (The Full Monty).
