 | | Mary Martello | Full cast and creative team have been announced for the Arden Theatre Company's production of The Royal National Theatre version of Candide to run September 11-October 12, and directed by Terrence J. Nolen.
The cast will include Joel T. Bauer (Maximillian), Ben Dibble (Candide), Erin Driscoll (Paquette), Liz Fillios (Cunegonde), Nick Gaswirth (Vandeerdendur), Scott Greer, (Voltaire/Pangloss), Mary Martello (Old Woman), Christopher Patrick Mullen (Martin), and Richard Ruiz (Cacambo).
The ensemble features Mat Burrow, Jeffrey Coon, Matthew Ferraro, Jessica Gruver, Darren Michael Hengst, Gabrielle Hurtt, Melissa Kolcyznski, Kristin Purcell, Marian Sunnergren, Sorab Waadia, and Heather Woodard. The creative team includes James Krozner (sets), Rosemarie E. McKelvey (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), and Jorge Cousineau (sound).
As previously reported, the Arden season will continue with Gee's Bend (October 9-November 30), Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder's depiction of the strong African American women of Gee's Bend, Alabama and the quilts they created; the world premiere of My Name is Asher Lev (January 8-March 15), Aaron Posner's adaptation of the novel by Chaim Potok, which tells the story of a young Hassidic artist torn between his observant Jewish community and his need to create; and Something Intangible (April 9-May 31) by Bruce Graham, with Terrence J. Nolen at the helm and starring Ian Merrill Peakes and Scott Greer. The season will close with Conor McPherson's The Seafarer (May 14-June 14), directed by David O'Connor.
For children, Arden Theatre Company will present James and the Giant Peach (December 10-February 8), David Wood's adaptation the Roald Dahl novel, directed by Whit MacLaughlin. and, A Year with Frog and Toad (March 4-April 19) starring Jeffrey Coon and Ben Dibble.
